Modernization or profile building, cooperation or competition – what does digitalization mean for the transformation of HE teaching? Which mechanisms bring about digitalization processes at higher education institutions?

It is assumed that digitalization is not a quasi-automatic process overwhelming the HE system and institutions, but a process that is shaped by various actors. The neo-institutionalist approach and the translational perspective explain how higher education institutions react to the challenge of digitalization and shape digitalization processes. Based on a systematic review, this colloquium will provide some insights into the impact of digitalization on higher education teaching in Germany.
