In their open access article “The Unexpected Rise of Private Higher Education in Germany”, Anna-Lena Rose and Prof. Liudvika Leišytė describe the development of private universities in Germany, thereby publishing initial findings from the BMFTR project ELLpH – Influencing Factors of New Teaching and Learning Concepts at Private Higher Education Institutions.

In Western European countries such as Germany, which have a long tradition of public higher education, the private higher education sector has grown at an unexpectedly rapid pace over the past decade.
