Current and Future Challenges in the Academic Profession (Future-AP)
Project Description
The “Current and Future Challenges in the Academic Profession (Future-AP)” project builds on previous international studies of the academic profession (including CAP – The Changing Academic Profession and APIKS – The Academic Profession in the Knowledge-Based Society) and expands upon them by offering a forward-looking perspective on transformation processes within the higher education system.
The aim of Future-AP is to examine how academics in more than 40 higher education systems perceive and address current and future challenges in their profession. The focus is particularly laid on the context of digitalization and AI, changes in teaching and research practices, higher education governance, working conditions, career paths, and social engagement. The survey takes into account various status groups and disciplines.
In this context, the HdHf team carries out and coordinates a sub-study of the Lithuanian academic profession surveying academic staff at Lithuanian universities.
