Sude Pekşen (left) and Dr. Anna-Lena Rose presented research findings from the DiveHack and INTERSECT projects at the 2026 European Conference on Educational Research.
Knowledge and Action: The Changing Context and Potential of Educational Research – this was the theme of the 2026 European Conference on Educational Research. In two presentations, the HdHf team highlighted current research perspectives on how universities can address diversity, learning processes, and changing educational conditions.

The HdHf team presented research findings from two projects funded by the Stiftung Innovation in der Hochschullehre that focus on intersectionality and diversity in higher education.

Dr. Anna-Lena Rose presented findings from the INTERSECT project. In their joint presentation “Intersectionality in Higher Education: Bridging the Theory-Practice Gap through Challenge-Based Learning”, Anna-Lena Rose, Liudvika Leišytė, and Anja Westphal discussed the opportunities and limitations of challenge-based learning in promoting student learning.

Sude Pekşen presented insights from the DiveHack project. Together with her co-authors Nina Bieling and Prof. Liudvika Leišytė, she demonstrated in the paper “Developing Diversity Competence Through Hackathons in Higher Education: A Trend Study at a German University” how problem-based learning through hackathons can support the development of diversity competence in higher education.

The 2026 European Conference on Educational Research took place from 18 to 21 August at the University of Tampere in Finland and brought together researchers from Europe and beyond to discuss current developments and perspectives in educational research.
