Intersectionality at German Universities

In their latest article on Intersectionality at German Universities: Empowering Teaching Staff as Change Agents with Higher Education Didactic Workshops, Julia Mergner, Sude Pekşen, and Liudvika Leišytė share insights from a project InterHEd workshop.
While diversity-oriented approaches often focus on recognizing difference, intersectionality goes further: it sheds light on how overlapping structures of power and inequality shape students' experiences – and challenges lecturers to critically reflect on their own teaching practices.
The InterHEd workshops were conducted in close collaboration with Division of Academic Teaching & Faculty Development. The events aimed at encouraging university lecturers to reflect on their teaching through a more intersectional and power-aware lens.
The article is a great read for anyone looking to make higher education more inclusive, equitable, and reflective.
