The iBuild AR project develops teaching scenarios using augmented reality (AR) to help students understand complex construction engineering topics.
The German Institute for Virtual Realities (DIVR e.V.) has honored the iBuild AR project with this year's XR Science Award in the Best Practice category. With this award, the DIVR honors the successful application in practice.

At the DIVR Expo 2023, the iBuild team led by Prof. Christian Hartz from the Chair of Structural Engineering at TU Dortmund presented a variety of teaching scenarios that were developed in the project. These scenarios make complex construction engineering topics more understandable to students through the use of augmented reality (AR). With the help of the digital models, students can interactively engage with the course content.

The jury of the XR Science Award commended the digital models developed as well as the teaching concepts related to them. The Professorship of Higher Education (Prof. Liudvika Leišytė and Anna-Lena Rose) didactically accompanied the integration of the digital models into learning scenarios and teaching concepts.

The collaborative project iBuild is funded by Stiftung Innovation in der Hochschullehre as part of the 'Freiraum' 2022 call.
